The much anticipated 2009 Baeksang Arts Awards but before we speculate on the potential winners for the respective awards, the results for the popularity awards in both the movie and TV drama sections were out today.
After a tough fight, Joo Ji Hoon edged out Kang Ji Hwan by a narrow margin of 0.71% to win the male popularity award for the movie section. Park Bo Young, who plays the female lead in comedy film “Speed Scandal” with Cha Tae Hyun, grabbed the female popularity award for the movie section with an overwhelming share of 70.4%. A distant second place is Kim Min Sun with 7.6%.
The fight in the drama section essentially boils down to only the two “Boys Before Flowers” actors, Kim Hyun Joong and Lee Min Ho, where Kim eventually won with 47.47%. It was said that the their votes were really close until Kim Hyun Joong’s fans managed to pull it apart in the last minutes. A close competition at the female section as well, with Im Yoon Ah and Moon Geun Young having votes within 0.1% of each other. At the cut off point, Im Yoon Ah slipped through with 42.38%, 0.1% more than Moon Geun Young.
Did your favourite star win? (It certainly didn’t for me as I was rooting for Moon Geun Young). Kind of a disappointed but anyway the winners will receive their awards at the 45th Baeksang Arts Award ceremony to be held on the 27th Feb evening.
