“K-pop Star Infected with H1N1 Flu”

K-pop star Kim Hyun-joong, leader of idol group SS501, has been infected with H1N1 influenza and is currently hospitalized in Tokyo. His agency reported that Kim suffered from a high fever and a headache when he was in Yokohama over the weekend for a promotional tour of the TV drama “Boys over Flowers.” Kim was given the antiviral drug Tamiflu and will remain in isolation for about two weeks. His agent said that Kim has improved greatly since taking the drug and is r! esting comfortably. He also said that other members of SS501 are healthy and they will continue to work on a new album due for release in Japan.

Meanwhile, Lee Min-ho and Koo Hye-sun, Kim’s co-stars in the drama, also took part in the Yokohama promotional event with Kim, but have not shown any symptoms of the new flu. Kim is the first celebrity to have caught the disease. H1N1 influenza has already claimed four lives in Korea and affected over 6,200 Koreans.

“SS501 Launches 1st Asia Concert Tour”

The latest hallyu star SS501 is going to launch their first Asia concert tour. Starting in Seoul on August 1st, the idol group is going to travel to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Malaysia, and Singapore for the next four months to hold a total of 15 shows.

The concept for the group’s latest tour is “persona.” True to the concert concept, each member is going to show his unique persona through individual performances. SS501 promises electrifying and unforgettable concerts. Their repertoire will include new adaptations of their old hits, and the first-ever releases of their newest songs and the music videos from their second regular album.

The first shows of the Asia tour will be held in the Olympic Park in Seoul on August 1st and 2nd.

“SS501 Introduces A Capella Song in 2nd Japanese Album”

The five members of SS501 are back together to launch their activities in Japan.

Until recently, the members had been busy with their separate activities: Kim Hyun-joong was filming “Boys Over Flowers,” Park Jung-min was appearing in the musical “Grease,” and Kim Hyung-jun, Kim Kyu-jong and Heo Young-saeng performed under the name “Triple S.”

SS501’s second Japanese album, which is slated for release on May 13 and entitled “All My Love,” shows off a more mature side of the members’ vocal skills.

All 13 songs included in the album are performed in Japanese. The new album contains a song that sends a message of hope to a loved one; the ballad “Mermaid,” performed by Park Jung-min; the single “Lucky Days,” which entered the Oricon weekly chart last year, and “Get Along,” which was strongly recommended by the CEO of SS501’s agency, DSP Media.

The title track, “All My Love,” had drawn the spotlight even before the album’s release because it is SS501’s first a capella song. Park Jung-min said he and his band mates doubted their ability to perform the song when they first heard about it, but at the same time they believed they had to try it. Kim Hyung-jun, the leader of SS501, said the group practiced hard to perfectly convey the warmth of the song.

On May 17, SS501 will hold a handshaking event for its fans at the TFT Hall in Tokyo to mark the release of its new album and arouse interest in it.

On August 13, the group will hold two concerts at the Budokan Hall for the first time as part of its Asian concert tour.

“Boys Over Flower Actor Kim Hyeon Jung Suffers Waist Pain From Accident”

Singer and actor Kim Hyeon-jung (23) is complaining of waist pain following a recent car accident.

While heading to the film set of the hit KBS 2TV drama “Boys over Flowers” last month, Kim suffered a car accident near the downtown Cheonggye Stream area. Kim cited waist pain at the time and the hospital advised him to check in but, due to tight shooting schedule, he delayed treatment until after the drama is over at the end of March.

His management agency said, “Kim’s waist pain is continuing, so when the drama is over, Kim will clear his schedule and rest in a hospital for a month. His band, SS501, was scheduled to release a regular album in April in Japan, but it has been put off until May. After the drama, he also needs to shoot several TV commercials, so we adjusted his schedule to provide for sufficient rest.”

The agency added that Kim’s recent collapse during the Macao shoot was due to long hours of shooting without having proper regular meals, resulting in a gastric ulcer.
