[TV Report] The Entertainment Weekly episode that aired Saturday on KBS2 visited the site of a commercial shoot by one of the hottest girl groups these days, 2NE1. The four members shared stories of their lives and the accident of a broken trophy.
2NE1 is topping numerous music charts and flaunting its girl group power. One photograph they recently posted online attracted peculiar interest. It was a photo of eldest member Sandara Park frowning over a broken trophy. She dropped the trophy, which the group received during a music show, while singing an encore at the show’s end. She posted a picture of the trophy, broken into pieces, on her Internet blog.
She said on Entertainment Weekly that “officials of the program Music Bank helped us to glue the pieces together to have my trophy back as it was.”
2NE1 then talked about each member’s role at their home. Sandara is the entertainer of the group with her vivacious personality, vocalist Bom is known for her cute charm and youngest Minzy is the best cook. Last but not least, CL is the “mom.” The meticulous group leader is in charge of the overall cleaning and organizing of their living quarters.
Entertainment Weekly also interviewed Kim Myeong-min, Ha Ji-won, Chu Seong-hun and Jeong Hyeong-don. Kim talked about people’s response to his grueling diet he underwent to play the role of a Lou Gehrig’s disease patient in his new film. He lost 20 kilograms
Five members of the new female group 4minute say that they’re not worried about competing against another recently-debuted girl band 2NE1.
After performing the group’s debut song, “Hot Issue,” in a cable music program, 4minute members said that they admire 2NE1 and it’s an honor for them to stand on the same stage with them. However, they don’t think 2NE1 as their rivals, because their music styles are totally different. The leader of 4minute, Nam Ji-hyun, said that each member of the group has a very distinct personality, which is incorporated into the songs. She told the reporters to look forward to their performances.
4minute made its debut on Thursday’s “M Countdown.” Their network appearance will begin with “Music Bank” on Saturday, followed by “Show! Music Center” on MBC and “Hot Pop Songs” on SBS
A new girl group groomed by YG Entertainment, one of Korea’s biggest entertainment agencies, will reveal themselves in a commercial where they appear alongside the idol boy band Big Bang.
Referred to as the “female version of Big Bang,” the group consists of four members — Sandara Park, a Korean who became a star in the Philippines show business; Park Bom, who appeared in a commercial with singer Lee Hyo-lee; Kong Min-ji, a granddaughter of legendary traditional Korean dancer Kong Ok-jin; and rapper CL, who is fluent in four languages.
The commercial featuring the group is scheduled to go on air on Saturday, and before that on Friday, the new group’s digital single “Lollipop” will be released. The commercial is also part of an ad series for LG Cyon’s Lollipop mobile phone, created in music video format. The whole series will be completed by early April.
YG said, “G-Dragon, a member of Big Bang who also writes, composes and produces songs for his group, is producing the girl Big Bang’s album. Although they will appear in a commercial first, they will officially debut in May. Since they have prepared for their debut for as many as four years, they will be able to show all the best they have.”
