Singer BoA (real name Kwon Bo-a, 23), who has debuted in the United States, has signed a contract with the top Hollywood agency CAA (Creative Artists Agency).
CAA announced the deal on May 6, introducing BoA as an artist who has sold 20 million copies of her albums in Asia and was named the most influential singer at the 2004 MTV Asia Awards.
The agency also added that BoA was the first Korean singer to enter the Hot 200 of the Billboard chart and that her U.S. debut album, which was released on March 17, was produced by world-renowned music producers such as Sean Garrett and Brian Kennedy.
CAA manages a number of globally renowned artists such as Mariah Carey, Brad Pitt, Justin Timberlake, Julia Roberts and Usher as well as Korean celebrities such as Kang Je-kyu, Kim Ji-woon, Bong Jun-ho and Lee Jae-hwan. CAA’s contract with BoA’s agency SM USA paves the way for BoA’s activities in diverse areas including music, advertisement and movies.
The U.S. entertainment magazine Hollywood Report wrote about the deal on May 6. The magazine wrote that the deal heralds BoA’s full-fledged activities in the U.S. and that BoA has been picked as one of the top-20 next-generation Asian artists.

The five-man band SS501 will take its Korean and Japanese fans to Jeju Island on chartered planes for a fan meeting there, DSP Media, the band’s agency, said on Thursday.
Jin Air is to provide the two flights between Gimpo and Jeju and Busan and Jeju for the event scheduled for May 2 and 3. The group’s five members will be divided into two groups to board each plane and personally serve the fans in the cabin.
In Jeju, the band will hold a fan meeting at the International Convention Center and a garden party at a hotel, and take part in a tour program with fans.
A Jin Air staffer said, “As soon as we started to receive bookings on our website, so many people visited it that all seats were booked in two hours.” Some 200 Japanese fans also made reservations.
The music channel Mnet will accompany the flights to cover the event to broadcast a program under the title of “SS501 Romantic Sky” in late May.
Meanwhile, the band will release a regular album in July.

The singer’s management, SM Entertainment, announced that the single will be released globally on October 21. In the United States, it will be available on I-Tunes, Amazon, I-Music and MySpace. In addition, “Eat you up” will be distributed as a ringtone through AT&T and T-Mobile mobile service.
A day later, the track will be unleashed in Korea on October 22 through major music portals including Melon, Dosirak and Cyworld. Further, the roll out will continue to 30 countries including China, Japan, Thailand, England, France, Germany, Italy, Australia and New Zealand.
